The Minnesota Lace Society (MLS) is a charter chapter member of I.O.L.I. and part of the Northern Region. Membership in I.O.L.I. is on an individual basis and separate from MLS membership. Throughout the year as our members volunteer at various events in support of lacemaking and lacemaking education, the hours spent contribute to I.O.L.I.’s charitable status. All volunteer hours are reported annually via the I.O.L.I. liaison.
I.O.L.I. publishes a quarterly magazine, The Bulletin, with both digital and mailed versions. It is part of your membership. The magazine includes notes from executive board members as well as articles, patterns, awards, and other interesting information.
The I.O.L.I. annual convention is held in various cities throughout the United States and includes the annual general meeting, dinners, classes, a display of work by teachers, vendors, and lots of camaraderie!
I.O.L.I. has a borrowing library of many lace-related publications. Items available can be found via the website, and can be mailed to you at the USPS book rate. (Shipping is paid by the borrower.) From time to time they conduct a sale of books from the collection.
Much more information is available via their website.
