Lace Education Grant

Policy for Member Support of I.O.L.I. Proficiency Program

I.O.L.I. Proficiency Programs

To support our mission of education of lace and lacemaking and support your efforts to make better lace, the Minnesota Lace Society will provide financial support to qualifying members in their effort to obtain a Pass recommendation through the Lace Education Grant, based on the I.O.L.I. Proficiency Program.

Qualifying member:

  • A member who has had more than one full year of membership and is in good standing.
  • The membership has been continuous from the time of the journal purchase through the time of the assessment.

How will MLS support your effort?

  • Pay for one proficiency journal per year per lacemaker
    – e.g., the tatting journal one year, the bobbin lace journal another membership year.
  • Pay for each proficiency journal once per lifetime
    – e.g., the tatting journal only once per member. Updates to the journals are provided by I.O.L.I.
  • Pay for one-half (½) of the assessment for the proficiency journal once per lacemaker
    – no funding for any reassessment(s).
  • If the lacemaker creates an Independent Study and it is approved by I.O.L.I., MLS will pay for the journal and the assessment(s) 100%.

The member must pay for the journal through I.O.L.I. and send a copy of the receipt to MLS for reimbursement.

In return for MLS support, the member should attend at least five (5) business meetings per year and participate in at least two (2) MLS group projects per year.

We understand that there will be exceptions and each request will be reviewed.
