MLS conducts classes and presentations for members and the community. These may be provided from our members, and from time to time we have non-members providing the event. These get togethers are on various lacemaking techniques or themes, and they may be held anytime throughout the year. When we need to charge a fee to attend, we generally offer tremendous discounts on the tuition cost. Contact the Education Chair with questions.

Lace History and Combining Lace with Quilting, Tuesday, October 27th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Waseca, MN

The Minnesota Lace Society is pleased to join The Stitchers in Time Waseca Quilters on Tuesday, October 27th. After their short business meeting at 6:30, we’ll provide the group and guests with a general presentation about lace and its history, emphasizing different kinds of lacemaking techniques, and providing examples of combining lace and quilting. You’ll be able to attend at the Tranor Campion Building (next to Sacred Heart School) on 4th Street Northwest in Waseca. We will also be demonstrating to the group how several techniques are made. You will be able to visit tables with needle lace, bobbin lace, tatting, and examples of other lacemaking techniques are also planned. You’ll be able to recognize the different techniques as we take some of the mystery out of lacemaking.

MLS Sponsored Classes

Tenerife, Saturday January 9, 2027 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. CT (registration open)

Our group is sponsoring a virtual class on the lacemaking technique of Tenerife, presented by Joan Brash. Tenerife is one of many Sol (or ”Sun”) laces, made on a radial warp loom using weaving and knots. It’s easy to learn the basics, then you can keep exploring the possibilities forever. Tenerife is a perfect portable “pocket project.”
